  1. In this propaganda poster, this shows Franklin D. Roosevelt feeding the fore, patriotism, with the log, Inspiration. This shows that F.D.R used inspiration to keep the people patriotic during the long war or World War 2. The inspiration was propaganda. Some propaganda that was used were, Why We Fight Films, created by The Office of War Information, and Rosy the Riveter, a character in propaganda posters. The Why We Fight films were used to show the public, but mostly the solders, why they were fighting for their country. This series of seven films help people come together to help American through the war by saving their supplies by rationing materials like, fat, sugar, oil, fabric and rubber, and contributing to society by working in war factories. Rosy the Riveter also contributed by encouraging women to sign up in war factories. These women did all the jobs men did while the men were away. This kept production up and in the end helped women's cause in equality. Also it made women's capability more known and later helped create the WAC, a women's air force. This all kindled Americas patriotism and helped make it possible for America to persevere through World War 2. H.I.G

  2. President Roosevelt is shown throwing a wood that says "inspiration" into a fire of patriotism. So I'm guessing it's saying how he was trying to inspire American citizens to be patriotic for their country. How he did this, was through strong campaigns using propaganda techniuqes such as Why We Fight videos, Rosie the Riveter, encouraging women and men to help their country. Also their was a strong urging of americans to save gas and carpool, to have victory gardens to have produce for themselves, and scrap drives giving scraps of materials for war efforts. All of this was used to make Americans feel a strong urge and desire to protect their country. So I believe that's what the cartoon Keep the Home Fire Burning means. Or...I'm wrong. So be it. AN

  3. The picture shows President Roosevelt throwing a piece of wood with the word inspiration in the fire of patriotism. I think, this means that Roosevelt wanted to have people see how important it is to be patriotic in the war and wanted to make them get involved and stand up for America. The films Why We Fight had the purpose to tell Americans why they should support the country and why they got involved in the war. Propaganda was also a method to try to convince people to support America and help produce war equipment or give them money to help being over with the war faster. Patriotism was just really important for America at that time, that all the citizen support the army and believe in America and its potential! SR

  4. The poster show FDR throwing a peace of wood with "inspiration" into the patriotism fire. That showes me that FDR wanted the people of the United States of America stand up for the their country and get to work and win the War. With that several people and acts etc helped, like the Women Propaganda poster of Rosie the Riveter that says "We can do it". Incouryging women to work and take over the hard work in the factory's as the men are gone out fighting for the USA. Also 7 propaganda films Why We Fight should show the american people to get up and take on the worksuite and start working. It showed why it is important that we now in the heavy war stick together and fight against the Axes. War Production Board was also there to turn normal factory's into war factory's that produce equitment for the men in war. The Cartoon simply shows that we as citizen of the United States should stand up and be usefull in society to overcome these hard times. MG

  5. This poster shows FDR throwing a log that has the word "inspiration" on it into a fire that says "patriotism". When you do this you are feeding the fire. So, this should mean that you are feeding patriotism with inspiration. So people are being inspired to be patriotic. Propaganda inspired (or you could say convinced) people to be more patriotic and get involved in the war. Rosie the riveter to be specific, inspired mainly women to be involed patriotically. The why we fight films were also very inspiring/encouraging because it motivated people and got them very interested, and attracted them not in a boring way, and there were also seven of the films, so that outta really shove it down their throughts. When we see these films, does it not only want us to be involved, but it makes us want to save for the military (especially if you are wanting to be in it, you would want the best), so victory gardens made it much easier for people in the military, which made you wan tto be in it even more. 6. In the poster, which shows FDR feeding a fire called "patriotism"
with a log that reads "inspiration". The fire symbolizes the war and the log symblizes propaganda. What I think this political cartoon means is that towards the end of the war, when it was at its most "heated" moments, FDR is forced to inspire the public by means of programs and propaganda. This propaganda included posters, victory gardens, rationing, and liberty bonds. All of this was done in order to "keep the home fire burning". AT

  7. In the poster it shows President Roosevelt throwing wood into a fire both saying inspiration and patriotism. This is showing that he is trying to keep up the inspiration in the country to keep up the patriotism. He used propaganda to keep up the patristism. they made up videos showing us Why we fight, Rosie the Riviter was used as well for women, and other posters. The videos were used to show soldiers why they were in the military and to keep on going for their country. AK

  8. The poster shows FDR carrying a piece of wood (which represents motivation) to a hungry fire (which represents patriotism). Before the WWII, the American people did not want to enter into another war. FDR used propaganda or "wood", to feed the idea of freedom and patriotism or " the raging fire". The people caught on to his ideas and made victory gardens, the men went to war, and women worked the jobs men normally had. To sum it up, he helped feed the idea of patriotism to help fight the war.
